The National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) and the Sam Houston Area Council honored six local professionals and business executives with the NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award at a luncheon held at the Petroleum Club in Houston on November 18, 2022. Emcee for the event was David Hitner, U.S. federal judge, and the keynote address was delivered by Frank Tsuru, president of the National Eagle Scout Association of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA).
The NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award (NOESA) was established in 2010, during the 100th anniversary celebration of the founding of the Boy Scouts of America. This prestigious recognition is awarded to adult Eagle Scouts who have demonstrated outstanding achievement at the local, state, or regional level.
Charlie Rawl was honored for his successful career in banking, insurance, and investment services, and also for his role as a key “whistleblower” who helped authorities shut down the $7 billion fraudulent Stanford Financial Ponzi scheme in Houston.
Candidates for the NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award have inspired others through their positive actions reflected by accomplishments and devotion to their profession, community, country, and beliefs. Previous recipients include authors, explorers, television personalities, military flag officers, scientists, medical doctors, government officials, business executives, and entrepreneurs.
